UNITE & FIGHT

Capstone Campaign

UNITE & FIGHT is an inclusive LGBTQ+ rights campaign with the intention of promoting the importance of unity. The oppressive forces that burden all marginalized peoples can only be dismantled if we utilize our combined strengths. We urge you to prioritize the betterment of yourself and your community.

Our mission is to build and support inclusive & accessible movements for social change that will educate & empower LGBTQ+ people of New York State.

With the goal of developing a campaign with the message of inclusivity, a lot of research went into the creative process. My research began with Queer x Design by Andy Campbell, which gave me the basis to reinvent a historical LGBTQ campaign. Campbell illustrates the importance of each graphic or campaign influencing the future design to come. I was inspired by the Pink Triangle, Silence=Death, Nautical Star Tattoo, Street Transvestite Action Revolutionaries (STAR), Queercore, and Public art.

In order to best reach the intended audience of LGBTQ college students, Micah chose to use stickers, flyers, social media postings, and an interactive webpage to illustrate the campaign’s message.

The stickers quickly and efficiently spread the message of empowerment telling the audience “they will IGNORE us until they CAN’T”. Stickers are the most accessible media material on college campuses due to their size, aesthetic appeal, and price.

Then the flyers and social media posters direct people to the campaign landing page. The landing page is used to provide insight into the goals and mission of the campaign as well as connects the viewers to resources for LGBTQ people, Activism, and Organizing for Social Change.
